Can you spare a few hours a month to help provide this much needed facility? It is hoped to re-start a Youth Club in Tintinhull over the next few months and much of the ground work has already been done, but adult volunteers are now needed to help get it off the ground.
26 young people and children attended a consultation event in July and confirmed the findings of the Community Plan that there is strong demand for a Youth Club in the village. The Community Plan identified long term professional support as a critical factor for any new club to succeed and the Parish Council has now completed investigations into this with the successful Community Youth Project in Martock. They have confirmed that they are very keen to support the creation of a new Youth Club for Tintinhull, and have offered to help in a number of ways not least in securing funding for the start-up phase. On this basis the Parish Council has committed to longer term financing. The Council is also holding in trust over £500 of funds which will help kick start the new club. In addition to that, all of the equipment from the last Club is still safely stored in the Sports Pavilion.
It is hoped that the Youth Club will be open by the autumn for one evening a week with a professionally supported Youth Worker in attendance at every session. As each session would need 2 adults, it is hoped to establish a rota from a number of parent volunteers to fill that second slot, hence the call for several volunteers willing to give a few hours a month.
A new Club will provide a focus for the Youth of the village and could help facilitate the provision of additional facilities and activities called for in the plan, not least by making their voices heard.
